On October 15th an investigative reporting team lead by Jeremy Scahill released an 8 part series of articles detailing a cache of documents they received from a United States Intelligence whistleblower detailing the drone wars during the Obama administration in Yemen, Somalia, and Afghanistan.
These document shows clearly how assassination has been normalized through the use of drone strikes that have killed more than 5,000 people.
As Amnesty International stated after the release of these documents, they "raise serious concerns about whether the USA has systematically violated international law, including by classifying unidentified people as ‘combatants’ to justify their killings."
This should be the final straw that ends the kill list and the drone assassinations. At the very least, Congress should open an investigation to verify all of the facts and consider closing the program.
