Congress: #RepealTheBan and support the NO BAN Act

The NO BAN Act is scheduled for a vote Wednesday July 22nd—individuals like you and progressive House leadership have fought to #RepealTheBan for years. This is our last push, if we can keep up the momentum we will be one step closer to repealing the #MuslimBan and #AfricanBan once and for all.

UPDATE June 26, 2020:

Two years ago today, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of President Trump’s discriminatory Muslim Ban, which has disrupted the lives of thousands of people in the United States and around the world by separating families, depriving people of life-saving healthcare, and blocking access to education.

Last week, we celebrated as the Court ruled that Trump’s decision to terminate DACA was unlawful, offering relief to hundreds of thousands of immigrant youth, who can continue to live, work, and study in the only country they have ever called home. We will continue to stand with Dreamers until a comprehensive, just immigration policy is put in place. We will continue fighting to repeal the Muslim and African Bans, which institutionalize the religious and racial profiling of people seeking to reunite with their families and pursue a better life while contributing to this country. 

UPDATE Jan 31, 2020:

We just received confirmation that the Trump White House is announcing an expansion of the Muslim Ban—blocking immigration visa's from Eritrea, Nigeria, Burma, Kyrgyzstan and diversity visas from Sudan and Tanzania.

UPDATE Jan 27, 2020: 

Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, released a statement on the anniversary of Trump's original Muslim Ban announcing that the NO BAN Act will be voted on by Congress in the coming weeks.

UPDATE Jan 20, 2020: 

News outlets are reporting that the Trump Administration may soon announce an expansion of the Muslim Ban, growing the list of countries from which entrance to the United States is blocked.

The NO BAN Act is growing its support in the House, with 214 co-sponsors.

Now is an ideal time to message to Congress—condemn bigotry and #RepealTheBan now. 

The NO BAN Act—introduced by Senator Chris Coons and Congresswoman Judy Chu, would not just repeal Trump’s Muslim, asylum, and refugees bans—it would limit the ability for this administration or any post-Trump administration to do something like it ever again.

We need to make sure it has maximum momentum in Congress—and send a strong message that our communities and allies will stand together and fight back in the face of hatred and bigotry.

In the wake of white nationalist violence threatening our communities every day, we demand real, concrete action.

We demand that Congress not just repeal Trump’s Muslim Ban, but limit the ability of future administrations to ban people based on their religion or where they come from. Join us now.

In a society already plagued by white supremacy, Islamophobia, and anti-Blackness, political leaders like Donald Trump have created the necessary political and cultural environment for the horrific, deadly violence we’ve seen in recent months and years.

We can see this clearly in the fact that nearly all of Trump's signature policies are specifically aimed at keeping Black and brown people out of the U.S.

Whether it’s the Muslim Ban, the racist border wall, detention camps, or ICE raids, this agenda is straight out of the white nationalist playbook—in fact, many of these policies were directly or indirectly influenced by anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant hate groups.^1,2

Trump’s Muslim Ban was already a moral crisis.

We can’t afford to do anything less than prevent any future President from stoking this kind of hate ever again.
